An Engineering Manager provides leadership to an office engineering/design taskforce to ensure timely completion of all activities and deliverables during the various stages of multi-discipline engineering projects. The Engineering manager is responsible for the technical integrity of the deliverables as well as the project cost and schedule and client relationship management. The engineering projects may vary in size and nature, but are mainly in the area of small capitals works, plant engineering and revamp type works. Besides project execution activities, the Engineering manager takes leadership in the development of competitive proposals, effort-hour and capital cost estimates.
This role is primarily an in-office role; although Jedson does seek qualified Construction managers, this is not a role that transfers well from a site/field management role to an in-house engineering environment.
Additionally, software project managers are not a fit for this position.
BS Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Civil are preferred. Biomedical, IT and aerospace are not applicable)
5+ years experience in hands-on managing multidiscipline engineering projects in the heavy industrial market (pulp and paper, chemical, food & beverage, packaging)
Understanding of types of deliverables produced by all disciplines (mechanical, piping, electrical, structural, and controls.)
Understanding of industrial safety requirements and OSHA 10 certification
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work closely with the client to establish project scope, schedule, performance and cost objectives for engineering projects
Ability to develop engineering services proposals, establishing and controlling engineering project budget
Team player with good interpersonal skills
Ability to coordinate internally with the engineering design group including process, mechanical, piping, electrical, controls and civil/structural engineers as well as outside consultants, equipment vendors and construction representatives.
Skilled in management of change
Project controls experience (schedule, scope, budget, project reporting)
PMP certification is a plus
